Michael Bublé says Christmas music should start in June

Michael Bublé is pushing the boundaries of the holiday season all the way back to summer. The Grammy-winning singer says people should feel free to turn on their festive playlists long before December arrives, even as early as June.

Bublé, 50, shared his unconventional take during the Thursday, Dec. 4 episode of Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, where the conversation turned to the question of when it’s officially acceptable to press play on holiday music.

“I’m Michael Buble, and I’m not gonna lie. We should start listening to Christmas music in June,” he declared. His signature holiday album, “Christmas,” released in 2010, remains a seasonal staple and is certified six-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

And Bublé didn’t miss the chance to poke fun at himself for advocating an early start to the holiday soundtrack. “It would be great for my streaming revenue,” he added.

Since the launch of the Billboard Holiday 100 in 2011, Bublé has charted more than a dozen songs, and his version of “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” even reached No. 12 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

Nearly 15 years after the release of “Christmas,” Bublé still has a clear favorite to perform live. “I think ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas.’ I love ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas.’ What a beautiful, beautiful song,” he told Kelce. “I think it’s one of the most well-crafted songs ever. It’s so beautiful.”

Beyond the music, Bublé emphasized his deep, personal connection to the holiday season, a love that has only grown since becoming a father. “The Voice” coach shares four children with wife Luisana Lopilato: Noah, 12, Elias, 9, Vida, 7, and Cielo, 3. Watching Christmas through their eyes, he said, has transformed the season into something even more meaningful.

“I can’t tell you how much I love building those memories We’re gonna set up the tree tonight,” he shared. “Those are the moments that I will probably search for, for the rest of my life, and they’re happening now. So I love Christmas. I love being a part of it.”
