MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland College held a grand opening this afternoon to celebrate the Chaps Esports Arena. This will be the largest Esports facility in the Permian, which was made possible through a grant from the MC Foundation.
“So this facility is actually going to be the largest e-sports gaming arena in the Permian Basin,” VP of Student Services Joseph Granado said. “It’ll attract a unique type of individual that’s really interested in gaming and entice folks that might want to pursue gaming potentially long term, even as a career option.”
The new facility will offer students a state-of-the-art space for gaming, collaboration, and fun. Included in the new facility will be PC gaming-friendly matches, Nintendo Switch free play, and classic arcade high score competitions.
