Out in Los Angeles, California, the New York Knicks had a bad showing.

In a game against the Los Angeles Lakers with plenty of eyes on it, the Knicks’ veteran Mikal Bridges had a rough outing personally.

Out of 10 players who checked in and logged playing time on Sunday, Bridges was one of two players who failed to log a single point. He played for 27 minutes. Meanwhile, the veteran guard Jose Alvarado played for seven minutes, going 0-2 from the field.

It took a lot for the Knicks to acquire Bridges. He gets paid a ton. Therefore, a zero-point effort in any matchup is sure to earn some heavy criticism from NBA fans.

“The Knicks gave up 5 first-round picks for him just to score as many points as I did today,” gridironk wrote on NBA Reddit. “Lakers gave up like one 1st round pick for Luka.”

“Almost 1 pick for every brick,” TyposIncoming wrote.

“The Mikal Bridges experience. score 0 or 25. wild. 0 points should not be in your range of outcomes,” mrzzz0 wrote.

In 27 minutes, Bridges shot 0-6 from the field. Four of his attempts were from beyond the arc.

It wasn’t a meme-worthy performance from Bridges. He might not have scored, but he still produced in other areas of the game. The veteran wing came down with six rebounds. He dished out five assists, while turning the ball over twice.

Defensively, he picked up a block and a steal. Bridges finished the game as a minus-four.

The Knicks lost to the Lakers with a score of 110-97.

It’s Not All Heat For Bridges

One bad game isn’t the end of the world for everybody. While most fans are giving Bridges a hard time for his lack of scoring, there are plenty of fans coming to his defense as well.

“If you base it on 1 game its bad. But if you look at his entire tenure with Knicks, hes delivers majority of games. Considering the goal was to counter Brown/Tatum and he literally won us 2 playoff games doing so. Go ahead and overrate the late 1st round picks,” PetifordGang said.

“Plus the OP didn’t factor in Bridges’ defense today, which is infinitely better than he could play even though they both scored zero points. Why do people only talk about offense?” joeb1ow chimed in.

“Clown post. Has a bad game and everyone quick to point it out. Had a great game last week and didnt see a post then. And to throw in the nba rigged Luka trade for comparison? More clown [expletive],” said MechaEscargot2.

This season, Bridges has 65 games under his belt. Once again, availability remains a strong suit for him, as he hasn’t missed any action.

Seeing the court for 33.8 minutes per game, the veteran forward is producing 15.3 points per game, while shooting 49% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc.

Along with his scoring, Bridges is coming down with 4.1 rebounds and dishing out 4.0 assists per game. He is also snatching 1.4 steals per game, and nearly blocking one shot.

Following his tough showing against the Lakers, Bridges will have a chance to bounce back against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night at 10 PM ET.
