Miley Cyrus Went Full Hannah Montana for her Anniversary Look

If you were a child, teenager or tuned into TV and pop culture at all in the 2000s, you’ll undoubtedly remember the phenomenon that was Hannah Montana. What began as a children’s Disney Channel show about a regular girl living a double life as a pop star quickly snowballed into something much bigger: real-life sold-out tours, chart-topping hits, a blockbuster movie—the generation-defining works. And last night, to the delight of 20 and 30-somethings everywhere, Miley Cyrus brought Hannah back to life for the first time in over a decade.

While strutting down the purple carpet for the show’s 20th anniversary special, Cyrus leaned all the way into the sparkly, glamorous style that her iconic character was known for. For a more adult version of Hannah’s classic on-stage outfits, Cyrus donned a gleaming custom Rabanne dress with an extreme cowl neck inspired by a look from the brand’s Spring 2024 collection.

Though, of course, the look wouldn’t be complete without an extra punch of nostalgia. On the brand’s runway, the shimmering silver dress was worn over a tank top adorned by one of photographer Jean Clemmer’s beloved prints. With the help of stylist Bradley Kenneth, Cyrus’ take on the chainmail gown had her swapping the tank out for a vintage Hannah Montana baby tee with a backdrop of bedazzled stars that fit the dazzling vibe of the revival.

She completed her ensemble with matching metallic silver heels and an assortment of statement bangles, rings and other Marli and Cartier jewels that played on the over-the-top statement accessorizing of the mid-aughts.

Perhaps the most important touch: Cyrus’ hair emulated her alter-ego’s famous blonde wig. From the clean centre-part to the bright blonde locks and full, tousled bangs—it was a look Hannah Montana would 100% sport in 2026.

Beyond last night’s look, we think Cyrus has been hinting at Hannah’s rebirth for months. The evidence? Take this 2000s-coded street style look she wore this past December that featured flared pants, a gold chain belt and an oversized fur coat. Plus, her recent photoshoot with Variety had her going full-Hannah. It’s clear that the singer has been enjoying reliving her Disney years.

“I didn’t want to do this modern approach to Hannah. I wanted to keep it preserved. But also, now Hannah wears Gucci. She’s elevated. She’s gotta look a little less Galleria,” Cyrus told Variety.

This careful approach to Hannah Montana’s return has endeared longtime fans. It’s well-known that Cyrus’ transition from Disney kid to an adult solo act wasn’t without its hiccups, and the artist had even previously joked that Hannah Montana was dead back in 2013. Today, though, Cyrus has come full circle and seems to be both at peace with her past and embracing it as an important part of who she is—glittery dresses, cut-off capris and all.
