It’s been 10 years since the animated film Moana hit theaters.

Disney announced that a live-action remake of Moana will premiere on July 10, 2026.

Fans had a lot to say after Disney released the first official trailer of the live-action Moana.

Moana fans, it’s time to head back to Motunui.

It’s been almost 10 years since the animated Disney film hit the big screen, creating a phenomenon among viewers of all ages. Moana tells the story of a young Polynesian teen sailing the seas to reunite a mystical relic with a feared goddess. Along the way, she also enlists the help of a lackadaisical demigod named Maui.

Now, Disney is bringing the story to life in a new way, releasing an official trailer for a live-action remake of Moana. The film will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who voiced Maui in the original film, and Catherine Laga’aia in the titular role. It will hit theaters on July 10, 2026.

“The ocean chose her for a reason. 🌊,” the caption read alongside the trailer dropping on Instagram on March 23. “Experience Disney’s #Moana, only in theaters July 10.”

Knowing that the live-action version was coming so soon had fans online pumped.

“Wooohooo so excited for this 😍😍,” one person wrote in the comments.

“AAAAAAAHHHH ITS PERFECT!!!!!!! 😭😭😭💚💚💚,” another shared.

“Yaaaayyyyy!!!! I’m beyond excited!! And the rock!!! 🙌🙌🙌,” a different follower added.

Even though it’ll still be some time before the movie comes out, at least we’re one step closer to riding the waves with Moana! And if you’re wondering how Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated film, feels about this … well, she’s just as excited as the rest of us.

“THAT’S MY MOANA RIGHT THERE!!!!! 🌺🔥🥹❤️,” she cheered in the comments.

We need to dive deep into the ocean with Moana ASAP! Looks like it’s time for a rewatch party.
