Montana Tech to host Data Science Day for high school students


Montana Technological University is inviting high school students to campus later this month for a day focused on data science and technology.

The university will host Data Science Day on Tuesday, March 31 in the Copper Lounge on the Montana Tech campus. The event is open to high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Faculty will lead hands-on sessions designed to show how data science is used to analyze information and solve real-world problems. Planned topics include finding hidden patterns in data, an introduction to cluster analysis using examples like breakfast cereals, and an overview of machine learning and artificial intelligence, including applications in gaming and autonomous vehicles.

The event begins at 10 a.m. with a welcome session, followed by presentations throughout the day and a conclusion at 1:50 p.m. A free lunch will be provided for students and teachers who attend.
