Don’t look now, but we should be getting some new music from Morgan Wallen soon. The country music superstar admitted that he’s back in the lab during his April 2 SiriusXM concert at The Pinnacle in Nashville.
Wallen was originally questioned about a recent Instagram post, where he joked that it’s time he came out of hibernation.
“Hibernation’s probably not the best word I could’ve used,” he said, per Billboard. “I worked a lot. I’ve been hanging out with my son, making music, and that’s about it.”
Interestingly, Wallen has noted that he’s still busy promoting his “I’m The Problem” album, which was recently certified as four-time Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). So, realistically, how much more promotion does that album need? Surely it’s at a point where that body of work has a life of its own and can sustain a few months where pen is meeting paper and fingers are meeting guitar strings?
Fortunately for Wallen’s fanbase, he’s planning on releasing some teasers for his upcoming music in the near future.
“I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do as far as this album,” Wallen said. “I think I’m on seven or eight singles right now, so it’s probably nearing the end for this album. I’m trying to figure that out. I’m at a place to where I’ll start showing little sneak peeks soon.”
That’s a start, right? Small samples before the whole meal. That’s the perfect way to bridge the waiting time between Wallen’s current work and whatever he’s cooking up for us behind the scenes.
Morgan Wallen Recently Missed Out on a No. 1 Song to Ella Langley
If Wallen is smart, he may time his next song release for later this year, as that’s when Ella Langley will be embarking on her first-ever headlining tour. The reason Wallen could choose to do this is that his song “20 Cigarettes” was recently blocked from hitting the top spot in the Hot Country Songs chart by Langley’s total smash hit “Choosin’ Texas.”
Let’s be clear, Wallen is talented enough and popular enough to reach the No.1 spot without some sort of ploy. But if he times the release right, he might be choosing the path of least resistance, and who doesn’t like the sound of that?
