Movie, popcorn night from Trans+ Support Initiative

CALLICOON, NY — As part of strengthening communities through shared fun, connection, understanding and respect, everyone is welcome to join the Trans+ Support Initiative of Sullivan & Wayne Counties for “Entertainment, Popcorn & Education,” organizers said.

The events feature free screenings of movies and complimentary popcorn and educational materials.

Coming up on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. is “Just Charlie.”

The screening will be held at the Callicoon Theater, located on Upper Main Street.

“Just Charlie” (2017) is a British drama about a talented 14-year-old boy, a football prodigy with a bright future, who secretly struggles with gender dysphoria. The film follows Charlie’s journey to live as her true self, shedding her “male” persona to the distress of her father and the upheaval of her family and community.

Admission is free; popcorn is free; educational materials will be provided.

“Entertainment, Popcorn and Education” is presented by the Trans+ Support Initiative of Sullivan & Wayne Counties and is made possible in part through the generosity of the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan & Rockland Counties, a Community Perspective Grant, and through the generosity of, support from, and in collaboration with Sullivan Allies Leading Together (S.A.L.T.), Catskill Pride, Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center, Access: Supports for Living and the REACH Program.
