Museum of Science in Cambridge evacuated after report of bomb threat


The Museum of Science in Cambridge was evacuated Friday afternoon after a person reported to police that there may be an explosive device in the museum.

The report was made to an officer at the front desk of the Cambridge Police station at around 3:30 p.m., a police spokesman said in an email.

The museum was evacuated as a precaution after the report, police said.

Cambridge police and fire, as well as Massachusetts State Police, checked the museum and found nothing hazardous, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said. No further details were immediately available Friday evening.
