COLUMBIA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A large-scale street music festival is scheduled to be held in April in honor of former Gamecock quarterback Steve Taneyhill, who died in December.
The University of South Carolina community across the state, including the Upstate, will gather on Greene Street in Five Points from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Apr. 3 at FAC (Friday after Class) the Festival.
Friday after Class was a weekly tradition at Steve Taneyhill’s Group Therapy, located on Greene Street.
Tabitha Taneyhill, Steve’s wife, said, “FAC represented everything Steve loved about Columbia — friendship, music, and the Gamecock community. To see that tradition grow into a festival that supports athletics and keeps people connected is deeply meaningful to our family, and I know he would be honored.”
Live bands will perform at the festival in the afternoon, followed by DJs and a special headlining performance in the evening.
Organizers are also producing a promotional video reflecting on Taneyhill’s impact and love for Group Therapy.
Profits from the festival will be donated to the Taneyhill Fund through Garnet gate, which supports Gamecock Athletics.
Organizers hope the festival may grow into an annual tradition.
