MVNU to feature music scholarship recital


MOUNT VERNON — Talented musicians and vocal performers will be featured during Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s music scholarship recipient’s recital on Feb. 24.

The public is invited to attend this free event beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Thorne Performance Hall of the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Center. A reception will follow.

The recital will feature several instrumental and vocal performances and will include a variety of musical styles.

Performances will include:

Kate Carter, a sophomore Worship Arts major from Pickerington. She studies voice with Mr. Dirk Eachus and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir, Music Stage Production, and Chapel Band.

Jack Davis, a sophomore Music Education major from Howard. He studies percussion with Mr. Brian Dodd and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Pep Band, and Collegians Chorale.

Nina Davis, a senior Worship Arts major from Mason. She studies voice with Dr. Cynthia Mahaney and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir and Chapel Band.

Jalynn Diller, a junior Music Education major from Bucyrus. She studies clarinet with Dr. Gabrielle Valladares and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Flute Choir.

Emma Fowler, a sophomore Biology major/Music minor from Mount Vernon. She studies flute with Mrs. Jennifer Packard and participates in Flute Choir.

Emily Howie, a senior Chemistry major from Chillicothe. She studies voice with Dr. Cynthia Mahaney and participates in Treble Singers Women’s Choir.

Rosalyn Johnson, a senior Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology major and Music minor from Bucyrus. She studies saxophone with Dr. Gabrielle Valladares and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Lance Jones, a junior General Music and Psychology major from Howard. He studies piano with Dr. Jo-Ann Koh-Baker and participates in Collegians Chorale and Una Voce Chamber Choir.

Madigan Kennedy, a junior Music Education major from Mount Vernon. She studies voice with Dr. Cynthia Mahaney and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir and Music Stage Production.

Anna Lindemann, a sophomore General Music major from Roaming Shores, Ohio. She studies voice with Mr. Dirk Eachus and participates in Treble Singers Women’s Choir and Music Stage Production.

Brianna Rider, a senior Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology/Business major and Music minor from Sugarcreek. She studies violin with Mr. Chris Japikse and participates in String Ensemble, Chapel Band, Messiah Orchestra, and accompanies Collegians Chorale and Treble Singers Women’s Choir.

Christiana Schuler, a junior General Music major from Bethel. She studies voice with Dr. Cynthia Mahaney and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir.

Moriah Tavenner, a junior General Music/Mathematics major from Urbana. She studies trumpet with Dr. John Packard and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Treble Singers Women’s Choir, and Una Voce Chamber Choir.

Zac Townsend, a sophomore Music Education major from Cambridge. He studies French horn with Mrs. Sarah Jancura and participates Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Pep Band.

Claire Vallance, a senior Mechanical Engineering major from Lexington. She studies French horn with Mrs. Sarah Jancura and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Knox County Symphony.
