National Youth Science Camp 2026


APPLICATIONS OPEN FROM FEBRUARY 23rd TO MARCH 15th, 2026 

The U.S. Embassy in Argentina has the pleasure of inviting all students between the ages of 16 and 18 who are interested in science to apply for the National Youth Science Camp 2026. The camp will take place from July 11 to August 1, 2026, at Camp Pocahontas in West Virginia, United States. 

The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the state of West Virginia, and the National Youth Science Foundation, and is aimed at academically outstanding students with a demonstrated interest in science. A panel comprised of representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Argentina will select delegates to attend the camp. 

  

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES 

The objectives of the program are to promote interest in scientific careers, inspire ethical leadership in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) related topics, and offer learning opportunities in these fields by developing a strong network among program participants. 

  

ACTIVITIES TAKING PLACE AT THE CAMP 

The camp will allow delegates to deepen their knowledge and meet with trained experts and enthusiasts in multiple interactive mini-courses or seminars, tour the facilities of prestigious institutions and museums, and work alongside camp staff in programmatic areas ranging from STEAM workshops, research and permanent connections with peers who have similar interests to learning outdoor survival skills. 

  

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Age: 16-18 years old (as of July 1, 2026) 

  • Currently attend high school 

  • Fluency in the English language (No certificate required) 

  • Minimum grade point average: 8 (eight) 

  • Interest in pursuing higher education oriented to the area of science 

  • Demonstrate high academic achievement in the area of science 

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and social engagement at school and in your community 

  • Demonstrate skills and achievements outside the field of science and outside of academia 

  • Demonstrate curiosity and a desire to explore new topics 

  

Priority will be given to: 

  • Candidates who have no or limited travel to the United States or abroad. A passport is not required at the time of application.
