The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly be without the league’s leading scorer for their next home game.
After picking up his 16th technical foul of the season in Friday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA announced that it will be disciplining the Slovenian-born superstar with a one-game suspension.

Doncic was assessed the tech after getting mixed up with BK forward Ziaire Williams late in the third quarter of last night’s 116-99 victory — and it comes at a cost to the six-time All-Star‘s wallet as well.

NBA releases statement on Luka Doncic suspension
In the official release published by the league on Saturday, the NBA explained it’s decision to punish the all-world guard.
“Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been suspended one game without pay for receiving his 16th technical foul of the 2025-26 season, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations,” the statement began.

“Under NBA rules, a player or coach is automatically suspended without pay for one game once he receives his 16th technical foul during a regular season,” it continued. “For every two additional technical fouls received during that regular season, the player or coach will be automatically suspended without pay for an additional game. … Doncic will serve his suspension March 30 when the Lakers host the Washington Wizards.”
Suspension to cost Doncic $264,000
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Luka’s one-game discipline will cost him 1/174 of his annual salary — roughly $264,000.

And for every two techs he receives from this point forward until the end of the regular season, that number will jump up to about $317,000.
Luka will be back for the final seven games on the Lakers’ schedule starting with Tuesday night’s matchup vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. Over the past dozen games, he’s been on fire averaging almost 40, 8 and 7 with 2.5 steals per contest.
