The Phoenix Suns are playing much better than NBA pundits believed they would after trading away Kevin Durant. They sit seventh in the Western Conference standings at the moment. Despite not having Durant, the Suns seem to be playing better as a team with a higher level of chemistry.

Jalen Green was one of the players that the Suns got in return for Durant in the offseason trade that was made. Green has played in just two games for Phoenix so far this season due to a right hamstring strain. Yet, the Suns have played very well without him.

After the Suns won a game against the Wizards, Collin Gillespie was getting interviewed by the Suns’ broadcasting network. Green came up and yelled a profanity live on air. The NBA has now made a decision on a punishment for him.

Suns Forward Jalen Green Fined For Profanity in Interview

The NBA announced that it has fined Green $25,000 for his use of profanity during that postgame interview. During the interview, Gillespie was even surprised that Green came up and used the curse word live on the air, making a comment about it.

This is the first time that Green has been fined since he was issued a one-game suspension back in 2023, which cost him a $65,000 game check. He was suspended for leaving the bench area during an altercation in a game against the Sacramento Kings.

Green is still trying to reach his full potential as an NBA player. After being the second overall pick in the 2021 draft, he hasn’t been able to turn into the true superstar that the Rockets were hoping he would be when they selected him.

It’s unclear what role Green will play with the Suns when he returns from his injury. Putting him back in the starting lineup might cause the team to play worse, as they have developed solid chemistry with the players they have in the lineup now.

The Suns Are a Team to Watch at the Trade Deadline

Phoenix is a team to watch at the trade deadline. The Suns are still fighting to stay out of the play-in at the end of the year. Right now, they have the 15th-best offense in the league. Pushing that offensive ceiling higher will be the key to them avoiding the play-in at the end of the season.

Integrating Green back into the starting lineup could end up being the answer to the offensive woes. His ability to get buckets has never been disputed. His shot selection has been questionable throughout his career, but the Suns are hopeful they can improve that over time.

Of course, Mat Ishbia has not been afraid to make big trades since taking over ownership of the team. The trade deadline could bring out some surprises for the Suns. They could try to take another big swing and add a big-time contributor at the trade deadline.
