NBA Friday picks, odds, bets

The Knicks head to Indiana to take on the Eastern Conference rival Pacers for the third time this season.

Despite injuries ravaging their roster, the Pacers have played the Knicks well this season, splitting their two contests thus far, but the NBA-worst Indiana isn’t in the business of winning games right now.

It’s especially showing in their defense.

The Pacers haven’t been able to stop anyone of late, which is good news for a Knicks offense that has shown flashes of brilliance lately.

During their current 10-game losing streak, the Pacers have posted a 121.8 defensive net rating, which is 4th-worst in the league over that stretch, and allowed 127.3 points per game, which is the second-most.

Part of their opponents’ eye-popping scoring numbers has to do with the ridiculous pace they’ve played at. They are easily the fastest-playing team in the league during those ten games, according to NBA.com.

The Knicks were upset last time these two teams played a month ago, losing in a shootout 137-134 in overtime.

They had another solid offensive showing in December, scoring 114 points with Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson, and Josh Hart all sidelined.

While they’ve been up and down over the last couple of weeks, the Knicks have shown some massive offensive nights against shaky defense, dropping 134 points against the Jazz on Wednesday and 142 against the Nuggets a week ago.
