‘The Night Agent’ season 3
Genre: Spy thriller series
What it’s about: Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is a U.S. Night Agent. That means he’s tasked with the most dangerous missions, and if he does his job right, you’ll never even know the country is in danger. This season, he’s tracking down a Treasury Agent accused of murder and has to stop them from getting away with sensitive government intel.
Why you should watch it: “The Night Agent” is probably the closest thing Netflix has to “Reacher,” though it’s a bit more serious in tone. So if you love a dark spy thriller, don’t miss season 3 when it arrives this week.

‘Being Gordon Ramsay’
Genre: Docuseries
What it’s about: This six-part docuseries follows celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay as he works to open five separate dining establishments at a single location: 22 Bishopsgate.
Why you should watch it: If this business venture fails, it’ll be a disaster for Ramsay. But “Being Gordon Ramsay” isn’t just about the drama; there’s also a look into Ramsay’s private life with his wife and six kids that will be a bit on the lighter side.

‘Star Search’ (Netflix live event)
Genre: Live competition series
What it’s about: Before there was “American Idol” or “The X Factor,” there was “Star Search.” This competition to find the next great talent was an iconic show. Now it’s back, and it’s live on Netflix, hosted by Anthony Anderson, with one final episode to determine the big winners.
Why you should watch it: Judges Jelly Roll, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Chrissy Teigen have spent all season trying to suss out which musicians, dancers, comedians, juniors, and variety acts could be the next big stars. And Netflix viewers have also got in on the action, as they get to vote on the performers and determine in real time who advances and who goes home.

‘Sommore: Chandelier Fly’
Genre: Stand-up comedy special
What it’s about: Sommore’s latest special comes to Netflix from the Historic Garden Theater in Detroit. In this new hour-long set, she covers everything from her takes on untimely deaths to celebrity scandals, and tells cell phone companies to mind their own business.
Why you should watch it: This may be just Sommore’s second comedy special for Netflix, but she made a name for herself decades ago as one of Queen of Comedy and a BET host. If you’re unfamiliar with this legend’s work, now is the perfect chance to change that.

‘Strip Law’
Genre: Adult animated comedy series
What it’s about: Set in Las Vegas, this adult animated series centers around lawyer Lincoln Gumb (Adam Scott). He’s boring; too boring. He is so boring he can’t win any cases. But that changes when he teams up with local magician/hedonist Sheila Flambé (Janelle James).
Why you should watch it: If you like a raunchy comedy show, “Strip Law” will scratch the itch. It’s also loaded with talented actors; aside from Scott and James, it also features Joel McHale, Stephen Root and Keith David.

‘The Iron Claw’
Genre: Sports biopic drama movie
What it’s about: “The Iron Claw” follows the tragedy of the Von Erich family, a family of wrestling legends that includes patriarch Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany) and his sons: Kevin (Zac Efron), Kerry (Jeremy Allen White), David (Harris Dickinson) and Mike (Stanley Simons).
Why you should watch it: The story of the Von Erichs is seriously depressing. It’s so depressing that they left out an entire son, Chris, because that would have just made the movie longer and more depressing. Thankfully, this incredible cast brings the Von Erich story to life in a way that’s largely compelling, making it a worthy watch despite the emotional toll it’ll take on you.

‘Firebreak’
Genre: Spanish thriller movie
What it’s about: When a fire breaks out at Mara’s (Belén Cuesta) summer house, she’s thrust into a race against time to find her daughter, Lide (Candela Martínez), before the inferno gets her.
Why you should watch it: This thriller could just be a showdown between man and nature, but it’s not. While the fire is a concern, a major wrinkle is thrown into the plot when it’s revealed that someone in the forest may have taken Lide in all the chaos.
