Netflix Teases Theatrical Plans For Warner Bros. Movies As Dune 3, Mortal Kombat II & More Come Under Question


Netflix has teased its plans for upcoming Warner Bros. theatrical releases. On December 5, it was announced that Netflix will be purchasing Warner Bros. for $83 million, a process that is expected to take between 12 and 18 months.

This will give Netflix ownership of WB‘s biggest franchises, as well as titles that are in the works and have planned theatrical releases. Because Netflix focuses on streaming rather than theatrical, this has called the future of major projects into doubt, including the upcoming Dune: Part Three, Mortal Kombat II, and multiple DC Universe titles.

In the press release announcing that they will be buying Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix shared that the company “expects to maintain Warner Bros.
