Terra Nil is about to get a little harder to access. We’ve confirmed that the acclaimed strategy/puzzle game dubbed as a reverse city builder is scheduled to leave the Netflix Games library on March 27th, 2026.
Its departure marks almost exactly three years since the game first bloomed on the service back on March 28th, 2023. It joins a growing list of third-party titles leaving the service as original licensing windows come to a close, with the number of removed games now over 50. Other March 2026 mobile game removals include Hello Kitty and Game Dev Tycoon. All the removals, primarily taking place throughout 2025, have left the mobile games library with fewer than 100 titles.
What is Terra Nil?
Developed by Free Lives (the studio behind Broforce and Genital Jousting) and published by Devolver Digital, Terra Nil was one of the crown jewels of Netflix’s early gaming push. It garnered critical acclaim for its subversion of the strategy genre.
Unlike traditional city builders that focus on expansion and resource consumption, Terra Nil tasks players with ecological restoration. You begin with a barren wasteland and use advanced eco-technology to: Purify the soil and clean the oceans, create thriving biomes like rainforests, wetlands, and tundra, and reintroduce indigenous wildlife.
Why is Terra Nil leaving Netflix?
As we’ve seen with several high-profile removals over the past year—including titles like Hades and Death’s Door—Netflix Games operates on fixed-term licensing agreements.
Most of these third-party deals with publishers like Devolver Digital appear to be structured in three-year windows. Since Terra Nil arrived at the end of March 2023, its contract is likely reaching its natural conclusion. While Netflix does have the option to renew these licenses, the current trend has seen many titles depart as the company pivots its gaming strategy toward internal IPs and larger franchises.
Can you still play the game after March 27th?
After March 27th, the game will be “bricked” for Netflix subscribers—meaning it will no longer launch even if it remains installed on your device.
If you want to keep playing after it leaves the service, you have a few options:
- PC: Available for purchase on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
- Consoles: The game is currently available on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
- Mobile: It is currently unclear if Devolver Digital will release a “Premium” (paid) version on the App Store or Google Play. In the past, some departing Netflix games have transitioned to paid apps, while others have been removed from mobile storefronts entirely.
Unfortunately, Netflix Games’ save data rarely carries over to other platforms. If you are in the middle of restoring a specific region, you’ll want to wrap up your playthrough before the March 27th deadline.
Terra Nil remains one of the most unique and relaxing experiences in the Netflix catalog. If you haven’t tried it yet, you have just a few weeks left to restore the world before it leaves the service for good.
