What was the gift shop in the Bear River Casino Resort, has been remodeled into what is now called Area 18, a place where those 18 and older can enjoy a gaming experience. A ribbon cutting was held recently to celebrate the conversion of the space.
Up until this time, 18 and older gaming was available at the Bear River Pump and Play fueling station, mini mart and gaming floor.
“Pump and Play has become the hottest gas station in Humboldt, so it’s hard to get in there,” Bear River Casino Resort General Manager John McGinnis said. Up until now, 18 and older gaming was only available at Bear River Casino Resort’s Pump and Play fueling station and mini mart.
“We wanted to make a space (in the main casino) for the 18 and overs to have, where they can come with their family, come with their parents or grandparents …for an out-of-this-world experience,” McGinnis said.
Area 18 has 20 slot machines and a small live blackjack table.
“Three-dollar blackjack which everybody has been asking for,” McGinnis said. “We brought it back for those with a little tighter budget, and we wanted to include them in all our fun here at Bear River Casino Resort.”
The blackjack table in Area 18 will have a live dealer on Friday and Saturday nights from 5 p.m. until midnight.
Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria Economic Development Director Dakota McGinnis said, “We want to appeal to the younger generation, to a younger crowd, and give them an opportunity for some good, safe, clean fun. This will give them the feel of going to an entertainment destination and being a part of it, just on the outskirts of it.”
To further enhance the experiences of 18-and-over gamers, plans are in the works for an 18 and over club night in the nearby Tish Non ballroom at the casino. More details are to come about this activity.
