AIKEN, SC (WRDW/WAGT) – A new consignment boutique has opened in Aiken, offering clothing and home decor from local consigners.
Sarah Brunson opened Southern Wren Collective after years of working in the fashion industry. She previously helped at local boutiques and worked as a model.
“I used to help out in local boutiques. I did model and fell in love with the fashion world and the industry, and just, it’s been a dream for years,” Brunson said.
Brunson had stepped away from fashion work but maintained connections to the industry. She worked four days a week at another job while spending Fridays helping at Vikki’s, another Aiken boutique.
“I looked forward to Fridays because I did what I love to do. So why not do what you love to do every day?” Brunson said.
When Vikki’s moved and the space became available, Brunson decided to open her own business. She opened Southern Wren Collective just months after making the decision.
“It was really all hands on deck to get it open. My brother was up here painting while I was at my 9 to 5 job. I have a little three year old. She’d be up here helping paint,” Brunson said.
The consignment boutique features locally sourced items including men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and home decor.
“I can’t keep up some days. I have five to eight consignment appointments a day, which is absolutely insane,” Brunson said.
Brunson, who grew up in Aiken, said family and friends supported the business launch. She said she was hesitant about the decision six months ago but would repeat it.
“You only get one shot. So do it while you can and everyone will support you,” Brunson said.
Southern Wren Collective is located at 1032 Pine Log Road in Aiken, where Vikki’s previously operated. The boutique is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
