An attorney representing a woman who was accused of stalking the New Orleans mayor is asking that she explain her finances in court. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell was ordered in October to pay the legal fees for Anne Breaud after the Louisiana Supreme Court chose not to take up her appeal regarding the stalking case. Breaud’s attorney, Justin Schmidt, said the mayor has failed to pay $9,669.48 of fees owed to Breaud. Emails supplied to WDSU from Schmidt show that Eddie Castaing, Cantrell’s attorney, said she does not have the money to pay Breaud. Schmidt now wants a judge to require Cantrell to explain her financial situation in court. At this time, a judge has not ruled on this request. WDSU reached out to Castaing regarding Cantrell’s finances. Castaing said the mayor intends to pay the fees soon.
