This Black Friday, PlayStation 5 is currently on sale for 18% off, the best price this year. With extraordinary graphics and low-latency performance that can outspeed the competition, it’s a tour de force of gaming power. The system gives you access to PlayStation exclusives like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and God of War Ragnarok, plus buzzy cross-platform titles like Helldivers 2. You’ll feel the report with every shot via built-in haptic feedback in the DualSense Controller, while your game library swells to fill a 1TB SSD. This edition also includes a disc drive, enabling you to collect and enjoy a library of physical games. But keep this pro hint in mind: Scroll down, and you’ll find this same hardware with games bundled in at a discount.

When you couldn’t care less about owning a physical library of games, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is here for you. The Digital Edition always retails for less than the disc version, but right now it’s even more appealing, after a 20% Black Friday price drop. It’s the best price this year by 9%, and this edition still has the same 825GB SSD, with blitz-worthy download speeds, haptic immersion and marvelous audio.

Instead of buying discs, a connection to the PlayStation store enables you to buy offline and download directly onto your machine. The downside is that you won’t have access to used games and some third-party game sales, but you’ll save money up front, especially right now. If you plan to shop for games through PlayStation’s store, this is a good pick. (And if you do want to add a disc drive later, you can buy a snap-on accessory.)

Black Friday PlayStation FAQ

When is Black Friday this year?

Black Friday is predictable; it’s always the day after Thanksgiving. This year, that’s Friday, Nov. 28. While the holiday used to be a one-day sale that mostly applied to big box retailers, where shoppers would rush the store, today it’s a huge part of online commerce as well. It also lasts much longer now. Sales start before Thanksgiving and run through Cyber Monday and beyond.

Are there good Black Friday PlayStation deals?

Amazon’s Black Friday PlayStation sale has some bombshell price drops, including up to 26% off on controllers and 20% off on full systems. That said, for regular shoppers without price-checker tools, it can be hard to know if sale prices are really so good. We track prices year-round. On hardware alone, we’re seeing deals beat their best prices this year by up to 18%. While the deals vary, there are some real gems available. Long story short: These are largely the best prices of the year.

What PlayStation console should I pick?

There are several versions of the PlayStation 5, including the Digital Only console, the disc version, and the PlayStation 5 Pro. All of them are on sale for Black Friday, 2025. The main difference between the two base models is the disc drive, which gives you access to physical games. Though it costs more up front, the disk drive can amount to savings down the road, as you’ll be able to trade games and purchase used games.

On the other hand, the PlayStation 5 Pro is significantly more powerful than the base edition. It’s suped up in many ways. However, whether the PS5 Pro’s much higher price is justified by those performance benefits depends on your needs.
