New York Fashion Week Finally Stood Up for Animals and Banned Cruel Fur! Will Paris Finally Follow Suit?

In an incredible victory for animals and their advocates everywhere, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced that New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is FINALLY and officially going fur-free!

Paris Fashion Week is often considered the largest and most influential in the entire world. It’s 2025, and there is absolutely no excuse for stripping a poor animal of its skin, fur, and feathers in the name of ‘fashion.’ We must demand the Paris Fashion Week board of directors follow New York’s compassionate lead and finally commit to going fur free.

Sign now to tell the organizers of Paris Fashion Week: GO FUR FREE!

The industry is at a pivotal turning point, and NYFW is the latest of many to commit to banning fur completely from any official NYFW event in 2026. This news comes on the heels of a number of other cities standing against animal cruelty in their own fashion weeks. Copenhagen, Berlin, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Stockholm and Helsinki Fashion Weeks have all made similar commitments in previous years.

And it’s obvious why it should be banned — the cruelty involved in fur farming and harvesting is unimaginable.

Fur farming is incredibly distressing to the captive animals involved. On these nightmare farms, animals are shoved and locked into tiny cages that are filled with feces and other filth, even when they are injured or have open wounds. Living animals are left to exist alongside the rotting corpses of their fallen comrades.

Unsurprisingly, this results in infections, disease, pain, and horrible suffering. Animals often self-harm and self-maim in distress.

These are the only versions of life these animals ever live. Once they are old enough to have produced “enough” fur, they are killed in gruesome ways — often gassed or electrocuted. After they are dead, their furs are cut from their bodies and sold to become clothing or accessories.

NYFW’s historic move must set more compassionate changes in motion. It is time for Paris Fashion Week to stand on the right side of history and commit to banning fur at its 2026 event. There are millions of animals senselessly slaughtered each year for the fashion industry, and we have the power to put a stop to it. Sign the petition now if you agree!
