News 12 | Connecticut | Stamford’s Project Music brings music education to children in need

Stamford nonprofit Project Music brought music-based education and performance opportunities to children in need at an event on Sunday.

The program started 12 years ago.

Event organizers say they aim to connect students from different backgrounds through making music together.

“Music can connect us in specific ways, because it’s a reflection of life and culture, and shared lived experiences. And when we start to make music together, especially when we’re creating music, have to make musical decisions, it talks about how to resolve differences and come together, and making something great for our community,” said Garrett Mendez, co-founder of Project Music.

Organizers add there were students from Boston, Rochester, Paterson, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Connecticut.
