NotYetArt: Building a Cross-Cultural Creative Platform from New York to the Global Stage


 

As creative practices increasingly move across borders, the challenge is no longer simply about visibility—but about connection. Many creators encounter gaps not only in access, but in the ability to translate their work across cultural and industry contexts.

Founded by Sichun Zhang and Yalin Hu, NotYetArt was created in response to this need. Since its establishment in 2024, the interdisciplinary platform—spanning art, fashion, and design—has rapidly evolved into an active force, producing dozens of large-scale projects within just two years.

With a network extending across major international platforms including New York Fashion Week, NYCxDESIGN, London Design Festival, and the Shanghai International Design Festival, NotYetArt has supported hundreds of artists, designers, and brands. Through these efforts, it is steadily building a cross-cultural creative ecosystem that connects diverse practices with global industry contexts.

Expanding Practices: From Art Curation to Fashion Platforms
NotYetArt’s practice operates across multiple creative formats, continuously expanding the boundaries of cross-cultural expression.

In the field of art exhibitions, the platform has established close collaborations with prominent New York galleries such as Sojourner Gallery, BlackBrickProject Gallery, and The Blanc Gallery. Through these partnerships, NotYetArt has successfully presented a series of large-scale group exhibitions, offering artists meaningful entry points into New York’s core art scene.

Within fashion, NotYetArt has consistently participated in the official calendar of New York Fashion Week, producing four runway shows to date. Each show has attracted over 200 industry professionals, including buyers, fashion editors, influencers, and key opinion leaders. The platform’s productions have been widely recognized for their creative direction and execution. Ludjero Lopes, founder of MondayCreators, described the runway experience on social media as “like watching a creative Olympics.”

In design, NotYetArt launched the physical exhibition Infinite Weaving as the NYCXDESIGN exhibition. And virtual exhibition Unraveling last year, as part of both the London Design Festival and the Shanghai International Design Festival, extended its reach beyond geographic boundaries. This Year, NotYetArt will once again collaborate with NYCxDESIGN in mid-May, presenting a major exhibition at Artech Space in New York. Beyond physical exhibitions, the platform has also explored hybrid and digital curatorial models.

Additionally, NotYetArt fosters cultural exchange through curated panels and social gatherings. In December 2025, it hosted a year-end gala convening collectors, artists, scholars, investors, and media figures. The event welcomed distinguished guests including former Tate Chelsea director George Madarasz and famous content creator Kayla Green, further reinforcing its role as a platform for dialogue and cross-disciplinary exchange.

Ecosystem Building: From Brand Expansion to Creative Markets
Beyond exhibitions and presentations, NotYetArt actively develops pathways between creative production and public engagement.

In February 2025, during New York Fashion Week, NotYetArt organized a pop-up activation alongside its runway presentation, introducing participating brands to an international audience within a live fashion context.

Building on this, ‘Lost and Found’ Creative Pop-Up event, presented in November 2025 in New York, brought together over ten independent designers and creative vendors. Structured around storytelling and shared experience, the event encouraged deeper interaction between audiences and works. With an average daily attendance exceeding 200 visitors, it was met with strong engagement from both the public and industry professionals.

Together, these initiatives reflect NotYetArt’s ability to translate creative practices into tangible audience experiences, while opening new channels between designers and broader markets.

Looking Ahead: A Shared Creative Ground
The name NotYetArt reflects the platform’s core philosophy. “Not yet” is not a negation, but an open condition—one that acknowledges what is not yet visible, while pointing toward future possibility and transformation.

NotYetArt is not simply a platform for presenting art, fashion, or cultural events. It operates as a cultural bridge—one that connects creators, practices, and audiences across different contexts. Through exhibitions, runway presentations, and curated programs, the platform introduces diverse creative voices while fostering meaningful exchange.

By working closely with platforms such as New York Fashion Week and NYCxDESIGN, NotYetArt continues to expand its presence within an international framework. Its projects have been featured across global media outlets including Associated Press, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar, reflecting growing recognition of its role in shaping cross-cultural dialogue.

As it continues to grow, NotYetArt is deepening collaborations with museums and cultural institutions, exploring new forms of presentation across disciplines.

From New York to a broader global stage, NotYetArt demonstrates that when a platform understands both creative practice and cultural context, it can move beyond connection—and become a shared ground where new forms of creativity can emerge.
