RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Candidates have one week left to file petitions for the upcoming municipal election in Rapid City.
Petitions must be submitted to the Rapid City Finance Office by 5 p.m. next Tuesday in order to appear on the June 2 municipal election ballot.
The election will include one city council seat in each of Rapid City’s five wards, with the winners serving three-year terms.
Election packets, including petitions and information about requirements and deadlines, are available at the Finance Office at City Hall, 300 Sixth Street.
To qualify for the ballot, candidates must submit at least 50 valid signatures.
The council seats currently held by Josh Biberdorf (Ward 1), Lindsey Seachris (Ward 2), Kevin Maher (Ward 3), John Roberts (Rapid City council member) (Ward 4), and Rod Pettigrew (Ward 5) will all be on the ballot this year.
