Originals on the Road: Red Oaks Music Aims for EP Release & Shows with Congress

Red Oaks Music has set a clear pathway for the coming months, anchored by two major milestones: the release of their future debut EP and targeted touring with influential peers.

The primary goal is musical self-sufficiency.

As Lane Whiddon explains, the release of the  EP will allow them to achieve their ultimate objective on stage.

“Hopefully, we get some big momentum rolling and we get to the point where our sets are mainly our music and a few cover songs rather than mainly cover songs and a few originals,” he states.

Dream Collaboration Becomes Reality

Building on the success of their unexpected opening slot for the band Congress The Band, a show Lane calls “one of our best.”

Red Oaks is actively seeking to forge deeper connections.

“I’d love to do some stuff in the spring with Congress,” Lane shared. “I feel like we’d all get along very well, so that’d be fun to do a couple of shows on the road with them, and especially get the feeling of what it’s like to be on the road.”

This strategy of releasing original material and touring with respected, larger bands shows Red Oaks is not just focused on staying local, but also broadening their music to reach regional support to achieve national visibility—a path that may just one day lead to Lane’s own dream venue: Red Rocks.
