The Orlando Science Center has been named the 2026 Education & Library Award winner at the Human Highlight Awards, presented by KultureCity.
The national awards recognize organizations creating more accessible, sensory-friendly environments for people with sensory needs and invisible disabilities, which KultureCity estimates impact 1 in 4 individuals.
Orlando Science Center was one of four finalists in its category, with winners determined by public vote after more than 100,000 votes were cast.
“The Human Highlight Awards celebrate organizations that are redefining what true accessibility looks like,” said Uma Srivastava, Executive Director of KultureCity, noting that the work reflects a broader commitment to making community spaces more inclusive and welcoming.
The Science Center is also a certified sensory-inclusive venue through KultureCity, offering sensory bags, trained staff, and quiet spaces for guests who may need a lower-stimulation experience.
Awards were presented March 6 at the Human Highlight Gala in Atlanta. Other winners included Salt Lake City International Airport and the Tennessee Aquarium.
A good reminder that making spaces more inclusive is ongoing work, and one Orlando Science Center appears to be taking seriously.
