As a beauty writer, I live and breathe skin care and makeup. I think about products all the time and not just because testing them is a huge part of my job. That obsessive level of interest doesn’t translate into style, however. I’m not constantly on the hunt for the next best thing in fashion, and I rarely shop for clothing. I’ve settled into what I like, though I’ve also accepted that my personal style is vulnerable to spurts of evolution (like my newfound love and integration of silk scarves).
Overall, I keep things simple. Neutrals dominate my closet. Some may call it boring, but I call it efficiency. If you paid attention to my outfits, you’d notice I repeat them regularly. No matter the season, you’d see that I love classic jeans, brown slacks, and maxi dresses. White T-shirts are regularly in the mix, and if it’s not freezing or raining outside, some sort of black flat is my go-to footwear. My bag is usually black too. My Bottega Veneta bag has seen better days, but I’m impressed at how well it has held up. I don’t believe in being overly precious with your nice things. Use them! Wear them! Let them show signs of life!
I’ve included many of my year-round staples here, and I added some other pieces I’m excited to break out for spring.
