Key features of this LG 45-inch UltraGear gaming monitor
OLED display
This monitor features an OLED display, but as I’m sure you’re aware, not all OLEDs are created equal. This is why certifications like DisplayHDR True Black exist, as they can indicate just how good a monitor’s color, contrast, and peak brightness actually are, but they’re pretty confusing to understand at face value. This monitor has a DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, which means it has to have at least 95% DCI-P3 color, black levels that are 0.0005 nits, and more than 400 nits peak brightness. This monitor smashes those parameters by having 98.5% DCI-P3 color, a 1.5M:1 contrast ratio, and up to 1300 nits peak brightness. What to expect? Well, you’re going to get incredibly dark, inky blacks, very bright highlights in smaller areas, and color that’s accurate and broad. This is ideal for making games look super life-like, and it’s also brilliant for editing video and other content-creation tasks that require high color accuracy.
FreeSync Premium Pro and 0.03ms response time
FreeSync Premium Pro is pretty much essential if you’re gaming in HDR on an OLED monitor. Using HDR in-game can cause some lag, resulting in a little stuttering in some cases, which can really pull you out of an immersive gaming experience. What this technology can do is provide low-latency processing for HDR content, making for a much smoother gaming experience, on top of reducing screen tearing and providing low frame rate compensation. Combined with this monitor’s low response time, you can expect seriously fluid on-screen motion.

Dual resolution
This is a 5K2K monitor, but it’s also dual resolution, which allows you to switch between 5K2K and FHD. Why is that good? Well, it means that you either play games at 165Hz using the whole screen, which works best with more immersive titles, and play at 330Hz on a smaller screen, which is pretty much essential if you’re playing first-person shooters competitively, as you can get more of an edge over your opponents when fps is higher. Basically, it’s two monitors in one.
800R, 45-inch screen
So this is a huge monitor that’s primarily designed for maximum immersion. The more aggressive the curve, the more you feel like you’re pulled into the game, which is why this monitor has a very steep 800R curvature. At 45 inches, this is the type of display that’s going to be pretty epic if you’re playing simulators and open-world games, and would work especially well with a racing setup.

Things to consider
Personally, I think when it comes to gaming monitors, especially when you’re paying premium prices, it’s worth getting as much bang for your buck and opting for something versatile, too. 45-inch monitors are epic for immersion, so if that’s your thing, this is an amazing choice. For a similar price point, you can get something even more impressive at 4K, 32 inches, that’s also likely to have dual resolution. The good thing about these is that, since they’re flat-screen, they can double up as a main display for watching content, productivity, and, importantly, design work. That’s because with a curvature of 800R, anything non-gaming related starts to get a little distorted, which can be a little weird if you’re trying to edit photos or watch movies, for example. This LG UltraGear dual resolution monitor would be my pick if you’re after something like this.
