Overwatch Reveals Its Next Hero, We Probably Already Know Her

Overwatch’s next season is just a few weeks away, and Blizzard has already said it’s releasing a new hero every season in 2026. On Tuesday, the company revealed the game’s next hero with just a single illustration. However, there are enough clues in this art and from Blizzard’s Overwatch reboot plans that fans think they have a pretty good idea who it is.

Blizzard is going to reveal the next hero in earnest with a full trailer on April 8 at 12:00 p.m. ET, but the company has filled in her silhouette in the hero line-up it’s been using to promote the game’s relaunch. We see a woman with long, braided hair wearing a beret and a cropped green vest. She’s also wielding a rifle and has a pink drone flying next to her.

She looks dope, but that’s not much to go on for the average Overwatch fan. However, if you’re a sicko who’s been keeping up with all the extended lore, you know all of those features add up to sound like Frankie, a character who debuted in the Overwatch novel Deadlock Rebels back in 2021.

Frankie hasn’t come up in Overwatch lore much, but Blizzard has said that each hero that debuts over the next year will be tied to the ongoing story, and the Deadlock Gang that Frankie belongs to is wrapped up in Vendetta’s crusade, which is at the center of this year’s Talon-centric arc.

So everything we know points to this being Frankie. We’ll know more when Blizzard reveals her properly next week.
