Besides levying thousands in fines and revoking one video gaming operator’s license, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has banned three people for leaving children alone while they gambled at casinos.
A total of 10 people were banned by the board from casinos, video gaming terminal (VGT) sites or online betting for various reasons, the board said in a news release Wednesday.
Three people were banned from casinos after leaving children by themselves, including:
- A woman who left a 7-year-old in a hotel room at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia for nearly four hours to gamble at table games.
- A man who left two children, 6 and 8, in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Philadelphia casino for 75 minutes while gambling at table games.
- A man who left a 6-year-old in a vehicle in the parking lot at Valley Forge Casino Resort for 19 minutes to play slots.
The board reiterated that customers are prohibited from leaving children unattended in parking lots, garages, hotels and other venues at casinos “since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children.”
There are now 1,458 people on the board’s involuntary exclusion lists.
The board also levied $89,500 in fines on a VGT operator with two sites and revoked the license of another operator.
Raceway Management Company Inc., which operates convenience stories in Gibson, Susquehanna County, and Lake Ariel in Wayne County, was fined $63,500 for its Gibson site and $26,000 for the Lake Ariel location.
The fines were for failing to have board-certified employees present on “numerous occasions” when VGTs were operating for the public.
Mann & Sidhu, Inc., which operated VGTs at Bald Eagle Truck Stop in Clinton County, had its establishment and individual principle licenses revoked for several violations, including failing to have board-certified employees on duty for VGT playing, allowing a minor to be in a VGT area and place bets, and failing to maintain its status as a qualified truck stop by not selling an average of 50,000 gallons of diesel or biodiesel per month over a year.
