Paramount Greece revealed its strategic defence partnership with Ukraine’s Military Armoured Company (MAC) Hub on 3 February, which is offering the MAC Sowa (Owl) 4×4 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle. The Athens-based company said in a press release the same day, “The partnership is focused on the joint development and local production of advanced land platforms and systems, aligned to the evolving requirements of modern, high-intensity conflicts.”

The Owl MRAP vehicle is produced in Ukraine and has been extensively localised and re-engineered by MAC Hub engineers to meet Ukrainian operational realities, terrain, and threat profile, according to Paramount Greece. Development began in 2024 and the first vehicles produced are undergoing extreme testing, a Paramount Greece spokesperson told Janes on 6 February. Ukrainian media has reported Owl undergoing trials with the Ukrainian armed forces in combat conditions. The spokesperson said serial production would begin after completion of trials.

Paramount Greece said localisation was achieved by using its portable production model for manufacturing advanced defence systems in-country, with the aim of ensuring sovereignty, security of supply, and rapid scalability.

STANAG certified

According to MAC Hub, Owl is Ukraine’s first armoured vehicle certified to NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4569-level 4a/4b mine protection, designed to withstand the detonation of 10 kg of TNT under any wheel and its hull.
