David and Macey Wysong have found a special way to celebrate their little girl’s milestone moments.

Like many parents, the mom and dad of three are taking photos each month to celebrate their daughter’s first year, step by step. Baby Dianna was born in October, completing the Wysong family.

“We’ve been together almost 15 years. We’ve been together since high school, and we’re coming up on our 10-year wedding anniversary this year. We tried to have kids for a while and went through about two years of fertility issues, but then had our first kid in 2022,” Davis explains.

“We had our first, a boy, and then we had another boy 13 months later. Our first girl was born on Oct. 6.”

The baby girl’s name has a special meaning for the couple. “My mother-in-law’s name is Diane and my mom’s name is Anna,” David shares.

“Our boys are also named after family members, so we wanted to figure out a way to include both of our moms, so we combined them.”

The couple had done a fun theme for their son’s photos, “onesies from our favorite TV shows,” repeating the outfits with each of the two so the brothers have matching photos from matching times of life.

“With a girl, I think we just wanted to do something a little different, a little more girly, and also with her name being Dianna, which just kind of felt like it was perfect to do something with Princess Diana,” David explained.

Macey has headed up finding baby-sized outfits that are close matches to some of the late Princess of Wales’ iconic looks, while David takes video and edits it to share online.

“I had the idea, and then I had a really rough end of my pregnancy, so I was not gonna do it,” Macey admits.

“I just thought it was such a good idea that I kind of pushed her to do it. I was like this, ‘This sounds really fun,’ ” David adds.

“So, I planned out all the outfits. They’re all pre-planned, but we might change some of them because it’s really hard to find some things in baby sizes that are close to the outfit she wore,” Macey continues.

In the process, it’s deepened the couple’s love for Princess Diana and her sense of style.

“I remember doing a report on her in the 5th grade,” Macey laughs.

“It’s funny, I watched a documentary about her during my last paternity leave, not knowing we would name our baby girl Dianna,” David shares. “I’ve always been appreciative of her as a fashion icon.”

Luckily, they have a pretty cooperative model, with baby Dianna putting up with photoshoots “for about 10 minutes.”

“The first one was definitely harder. I had to walk and calm her down, play some music. ‘All Too Well, (10-Minute Version)’ is the one song that calms her down instantly, so I played that for a bit,” the dad shares, adding, “She gave us a few more smiles [for month two], so that was nice.”

Two months into the tradition, the couple is enjoying seeing how people love this idea and have so many sweet things to say about baby Dianna.

“It’s all been mostly positive feedback, which is nice. I’m a journalist, and I’m used to seeing a lot of negative feedback. With a cute baby, though, it’s positive and people either talk about how cute she is or how much they love Princess Diana,” David says.

He adds, “We’ve had people make requests for outfits, so we might do some of those.”

“We’re saving these cute, cute outfits so we can pass that on to her, when she’s older, if she wants them for her own kids or anything,” Macey adds.
