A downtown Las Vegas casino has launched a new live-dealer streaming channel.
The Plaza hotel-casino has debuted the Vegas Live Casino Network, which allows viewers to watch gamblers in Las Vegas play a variety of games, including roulette, blackjack, baccarat and slots.
The channel streams live video from the non-smoking area of the Plaza casino floor seven days a week. On Fridays and Saturdays, the stream is broadcast from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Sunday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Vegas Live Casino Network channel is now live on YouTube.
Atlantic City, Jersey Shore hunker down as Hernando batters Northeast
Atlantic City’s nine casinos remained open as Winter Storm Hernando dropped more than 14 inches of snow over the weekend, prompting a statewide emergency declaration in New Jersey.
Overnight wind gusts reached 55 mph in certain areas of South Jersey, and several towns along the Jersey Shore reported flooding conditions.
According to local media reports, some amenities inside the casinos, such as restaurants and lounges, were temporarily closed or altered business hours because of the storm preventing employees from getting to work. A handful of Atlantic City properties offset potential slowdowns by offering discounted room rates and free parking at garages.
The weekend’s storm fell short of the single-day record in Atlantic City, which was set on Dec. 26, 2010, at 18.4 inches.
Lunar New Year results in Macao
Visitation to Macao for Lunar New Year celebrations reached higher-than-expected levels this year, encouraging analysts who believe the spike could also result in a meaningful revenue expansion for casinos there.
As the region’s “Golden Week” celebration of the end of the holiday dedicated as the “Year of the Horse” came to a close over the weekend, an industry analyst described the uptick as “incrementally positive for premium-exposed Wynn (and) Galaxy (Entertainment Group).”
Anne Ling, an equity analyst for New York-based Jeffries Equity Research, said in a report issued Monday that while casino revenue lagged by 10 percent from last year and 7 percent from January in the earliest days of the holiday, the rebound over last weekend should boost results overall.
According to statistics from the Public Security Police Force, Macao’s border checkpoints registered a total of 736,000 entries and exits on Sunday, of which 184,000 were inbound visitors.
Since mainland China began its Lunar New Year holiday on Feb. 15, the total number of visitors to Macao has reached about 1.4 million with a daily average of around 174,000 visitors, meeting the expectations of authorities.
The Macao Government Tourism Office had forecast visitation to peak at about 175,000 visitors a day.
