This affordable, speedy LG UltraGear gaming monitor is now down 22% on Amazon, and is currently at its lowest ever price, too. Reduced from $239.00 to $186.99, this monitor gives you a lot of bang for your buck, especially if you’re primarily looking for something with a high refresh rate, QHD resolution, and premium design and build quality. This monitor’s refresh rate can reach up to 200Hz, making it ideal for fast-paced, competitive gaming, and its 27-inch, 1440p, IPS display is great for crisp picture quality, without the added expense of UHD or a 4K-ready gaming rig. At under $190, this is a great way to go for cost-effective QHD gaming setups, and with over 400 bought in the last month alone on Amazon, it’s clearly a popular choice, too.

Key features of this LG 27-inch UltraGear QHD gaming monitor
IPS display
This monitor features an IPS display, which basically means that you’re getting something with excellent brightness, great longevity, and wide viewing angles, at a significantly lower price than something like an OLED, for example. For gaming, these are a great way to go, especially if you’re not super fussed about super inky blacks with this type of monitor, but depending on the type of gaming you prefer, that may not be an issue. For example, if you’re primarily playing more competitive titles without HDR enabled, this monitor is going to be very well-suited for you.
180Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time
This monitor has a refresh rate of 180Hz, which can be overclocked to 200Hz, allowing you to game at up to 200fps. This is the type of level that is going to be great for fast-paced shooters, esports, and other more reflex-based titles. It also has a low response time of 1ms to reduce motion blur and ghosting, and is G-Sync compatible and features FreeSync, which helps to reduce screen tearing and stutter, too.

HDR 10 and 99% sRGB
Pretty standard, but still decent, this monitor supports HDR10, which is ‘static’ metadata, so it can basically display content and games with HDR-enabled for brighter highlights, deeper blacks, and broader color. 99% sRGB is also not bad, especially for gaming, as it makes colors look a little more saturated and vibrant, rather than dull and lifeless. For web design, which usually uses sRGB, it’s fine, but for video editing, I’d recommend looking for something with over 95% DCI-P3 color.
QHD and 27-inches
The sweet spot for many, especially from a price-to-picture clarity perspective. At 27 inches, you’re really making the most out of the resolution here, and making sure that the pixel density is still very high, without shelling out for a 4K display or 4K-ready gaming PC. It’s also a good size for different types of gaming, and not too big that it puts you at a competitive disadvantage.

Things to consider
Okay, so this gaming monitor is excellent if you’re after something with a high refresh rate, that looks super sleek, and doesn’t break the bank. These types of monitors are super common, however, and I think it’s worth exploring your options, as each brand brings something slightly different to the table, whether that be slightly better HDR performance, higher refresh rates, more advanced adaptive sync technology, or even more premium build quality. This Alienware QHD monitor would be my pick for pure aesthetics, and this ASUS TUF QHD monitor would be my pick for better adaptive sync technology, as it features FreeSync Premium, which is excellent for competitive gaming. At this price point of around $200, there’s a lot to choose from, so shop around and shortlist before diving in. You can find our top gaming monitor deals below to see what’s currently on sale.
