Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark set to arrive in Australia this week for first visit since divorce

Australia will host Princess Tatiana Blatnik this week as the Greek and Danish royal flies to Melbourne for a big event. This will be the second time the ex-wife of Greece’s Prince Nikolaos has come down under for a trip, after first visiting in 2017.

The journey also comes roughly 18 months after divorcing the son of the late Constantine II, who was the last King of Greece. Melbourne’s Hellenic Museum confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle that Princess Tatiana will appear at a garden party fundraiser this Thursday.

“This is a flagship annual fundraiser with proceeds from this year’s event supporting the creation of a kids’ makerspace, to accompany a new Children’s Gallery opening at the Hellenic Museum in 2026,” a spokesperson said.

“We are incredibly grateful for Tatiana’s time, and look forward to hearing her insights in her exclusive discussion at Thursday’s event.”

The Museum hosts this garden party every year, but this will be the first time that royalty has attended.

Tatiana’s appearance sparked an absolute frenzy when tickets went on sale, with the Museum telling Yahoo Lifestyle that they sold out in less than 48 hours.

There will be 230 people in attendance to hear Tatiana’s speech, and the Princess will then record a podcast episode with Museum director Helen Mantzis.

Who is Princess Tatiana?

The 45-year-old was born in the capital of Venezuela but was raised in Switzerland, and is currently an entrepreneur.

She’s also worked as a publicist and event planner for Diane von Fürstenberg and published her own cookbook, A Taste of Greece, in 2016.

Not only does she have links to the Greek royal family, but she’s also part of the extended Danish royal family.

Through her mother’s side of the family, she’s a direct descendant of Denmark’s William II, Elector of Hesse.

According to the Australian Women’s Weekly, Tatiana met Prince Nikolas on a Swiss ski trip in 2003, and they announced their engagement in 2009.

They got married in the Orthodox Church of St Nicholas in Spetses, Greece, the following year, and Tatiana wore a gown created by Venezuelan designer Ángel Sánchez.

They were together for 14 years and announced they were amicably separating in April last year.

It was agreed that Tatiana would retain her royal titles following the divorce.

In January this year, Prince Nikolas announced his engagement to Chrysí Vardinogiánni, who is the daughter of Greek shipping magnate Giórgos Vardinogiánnis.

Their wedding was held in February at the Holy Church of Saint Nicholas Ragavas in Plaka, Athens.

In that same month, Tatiana uploaded a lengthy post to Instagram thanking everyone for their messages.

“When people ask if I will continue to live in Greece, my answer has never been more of a YES,” she said.

“Because of you. Thank you for opening your doors, your hearts & your homes. Your kindness and support means everything.

“Right now, my focus is on expanding our projects and welcoming new partners. From hours on Zoom calls to health and wellness expos (yes, that includes sweating it out in an infrared sauna!), to receiving the most incredible Greek biodynamic products from the Greek land—this is what has been keeping me busy and inspired. And I can’t wait for what’s ahead.

“Special thanks to those who help me stay strong—physically, emotionally and in every way that matters.
