The Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s “ReBrain Greece” initiative held its fifth outreach event in New York on Sunday, December 7, 2025, attracting an impressive turnout of over 1,500 Greeks from across the United States and Canada. The action aims to encourage the return of Greeks who left the country, primarily during the economic crisis.

Attendees traveled from across the continent, including distant states such as Alaska, California, and Florida, confirming the wide-ranging interest in returning to Greece.

Participants had the opportunity to conduct interviews with representatives from 35 leading business groups seeking high-caliber executives.

The event provided comprehensive information on professional prospects in the Greek labor market and the government’s incentives to encourage a return to Greece.

Participating companies represented a broad range of activities, including energy, defense, construction, banking, media, and the entire healthcare sector.

Minister of Labour and Social Security, Niki Kerameus, addressed the interested parties, emphasizing the substantial changes and growth in the modern Greek economy.

The Minister underlined the special nature of the event, stating:

“The Greece of today has nothing to do with the Greece that all these people left behind when they departed. The current economic and working conditions in our country are vastly different from those that led them to move abroad during the crisis years.”

Minister Kerameus summarized the Ministry’s mission with a dual goal:

  • To prove that the Greece of today is fundamentally different from the one they left behind.
  • To showcase the significant professional opportunities now available in the country.

She concluded her remarks by stressing the government’s commitment to facilitating their return:

“The final decision to return is yours. However, for our part, we will do everything in our power—believe me, everything in our power—to win you back to our homeland.”
