EUREKA, Calif., — One of Humboldt County’s longest-running holiday traditions is back this weekend. The 45th annual Humboldt Artisans Crafts & Music Festival will be held Dec. 5 through Dec. 7 at Redwood Acres in Eureka, featuring more than 100 local vendors, live entertainment and festive food and drinks.
Event coordinator Calista Labolle said the event has become a staple of the local holiday season, bringing together artists, musicians and families from across the North Coast.
“It’s one of our longest standing holiday events here in Humboldt, and we have over 100 craft booths,” Labolle said. “There are three buildings, each with a stage of live music that will play all day, and there’s tons of food and holiday cheer, of course.”
The festival showcases handmade gifts and crafts from local artisans, with everything from jewelry and pottery to holiday decorations and fine art. Three buildings will be decorated in a holiday theme, each hosting continuous live performances throughout the day.
Among the featured acts are the Loud Dancers, the McKinleyville Community Choir, Julie Froblom & Friends, the Claire Bent Jazz Quartet, and Jeff Smoller.
“It’s really fun to see these big groups come together and get to perform on a bigger stage than they might usually do,” Labolle said. “It’s one of my favorite parts of the festival.”
Local food vendors will include Mainely Lobster, Humboldt Bay Burgers, Tacos El Gallo, and The Café Artistes, along with lemonade, beer, wine, and spirits provided by Arcata Rotary Noon.
Admission is $5 at the door, payable by cash or card. Entry is free for children ages five and under, seniors 65 and older, and anyone who donates a new, unwrapped toy to benefit the Humboldt Bay Firefighters’ Toy Drive.
“We really love the opportunity to support that organization,” Labolle said. “It’s something we’ve been doing for as long as I can remember, and it’s a great way to give a toy away to someone in need.”
Festival hours are Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Come out and enjoy all that our Humboldt community has to offer,” Labolle added.
