Some lawmakers argue they should be getting far more regular financial updates from county officials.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Republicans in the Erie County Legislature are calling for more regular updates on the county’s finances.
Officials said they would like representatives of the budget department and comptroller’s office to appear before lawmakers on a monthly basis. Their bill remains in the Finance and Management Committee after the chair, Democrat Michael Kooshoian, they should talk it over with the administration first.
“All this is asking for is that the people responsible for keeping track of county finances come over and tell us where we stand with county finances,” Lindsay Lorigo, a Republican who represents the 10th District, told 2 On Your Side.
“Every member of this body that is responsible for the financial future of Erie County should be saying yes, we want updates.”
Minority Republicans introduced a similar measure last year, which failed to gain enough support to pass.
