Thanks to Digital Foundry, we have technical insight into the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Requiem, including frame rate and resolution. Overall the results from Capcom are impressive with DLSS doing some heavy lifting. The main concern right now is frame rate, as things can be a bit uneven in that department.
Here’s the roundup of tidbits:
– Looks fairly similar to PS5
– No ray tracing on Switch 2
– Different hair in the Switch 2 version
– Lower texture quality and lower quality character models as well, but not overly noticeable
– Some lighting changes like lower resolution volumetric lighting
– Internal 540p docked resolution compared to 1080p for PS5
– DLSS used for Switch 2, boosting the final resolution – possibly around 1080p
– Internal handheld resolution is 360p
– 1080p UI for Switch 2 vs. 4K for PS5
– Switch 2 targets 60 FPS, which it hits in smaller scale sections
– Frame rate can be in the 40s and 50s
– Lowest docked FPS can be 30
– For handheld, the worst case scenario is 25 FPS
– Loading times are quick
– Image quality on Switch 2 is better than Xbox Series S, but has worse performance
