Revealed: Details of John Paul Jones’ unreleased music dating back more than 30 years

LedZepNews has discovered details on more than 20 unreleased songs written and likely recorded by John Paul Jones.

Using publicly available information in the BMI Songview music publishing database and details from a rare 1990s promotional cassette tape of Jones’ work, LedZepNews has found listings for work written by Jones but never released.

Our findings shed new light on Jones’ solo projects dating back to the early 1990s. We found that Jones wrote and likely recorded five new songs with his band Snoweye that he formed in 2017.

The database also revealed that Jones has written a series of other songs including unreleased tracks named “Oblivion” and “Shine”. It also contains information on seven unreleased songs Jones likely recorded with Them Crooked Vultures.

The unreleased Snoweye album

Jones’ band Snoweye were formed in 2017 and have performed together a handful of times. LedZepNews revealed in 2022 that the band had written a soundtrack for the film “And Anne” which has been in production since 2019. Last year, we reported that the film has been cancelled.

It appears that Jones has written five songs with Snoweye dating back to 2017. Here are the songs by the band listed in the database:

  • I See You
  • Last Walk
  • Mearavaibmu
  • Rain
  • Vaillahan

“Last Walk” was performed live by Snoweye in 2017 and referred to as a “ballad” by Norwegian newspaper Altaposten. “The trio’s self-written ballad ‘Last Walk’ was the most hair-raising and goosebump-inducing performance of the entire concert, and the song has the potential to become a real mega-ballad hit,” it said.

It’s possible that this 2017 video captures the band performing “Last Walk”:
