Rihanna is a known fashion maximalist: a confectionary-colored Issey Miyake set and extreme below-the-bump Alaïa as maternity wear, double denim layered with diamonds, statement headgear, animal print everything. Her style repertoire revels in vintage gems and her favorite big name brands, and even a run to Fatburger has called for a look in the past. But out and about in Los Angeles yesterday, Rihanna gave the clean girl uniform a go.
In the most Rihanna way possible, that is. Out for the school run with her son and errands at CVS in West Hollywood, the pop star and beauty mogul wore a pinstripe blazer that she paired with straight leg blue jeans, a white t-shirt, tricolor leather Miu Miu penny loafers, and oversized Saint Laurent sunglasses. She accessorized with a singular gold pendant necklace, and wore her hair slicked back in a ponytail. Pared back and put together, it was a vibe that feels most in rhythm with the likes of quiet luxury style savants Hailey Bieber and Sofia Richie Grainge.
Casual fashion is not not in Rih’s fashion lexicon. Trust that she has an extensive collection of elevated comfies and more laidback attire: Dior track jackets, knitted Miu Miu sets, Celine denim. It’s just that the Rihanna way for the everyday usually includes a neon green shearling Amina Muaddi shoe or a pop of python print.
