2026 is set to be filled with big games, and Riot Games is aiming to help kick the year off with the console version of its free-to-play fighting game, 2XKO.
2XKO pulls in characters from the world of Runeterra, which encompasses multiple games such as League of Legends, as well as the animated television series Arcane. The roster currently includes just 11 champions, with more expected to be added over time.
A slow and steady launch
Unusually, 2XKO first launched in closed beta on PC, which then opened up into early access back in October. The developers have indicated that outside of brief periods of maintenance, the game is intended to stay online from here, continuing to evolve through early access as more champions are added over time.
There isn’t an exact timeframe for when the game is expected to leave early access, leaving room for the developers to adjust things and provide updates for the time being.
2XKO will also support full cross-play and cross-progression, meaning that not only can friends play together regardless of platform, but anyone that started playing on PC can hop over to Xbox or PlayStation with all of their skins and other unlocks.
Riot Games has not detailed any benefits for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, however many other Riot titles have special benefits for players subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, including instant access to new characters.
We’ll have to wait and see if 2XKO is added into the existing Riot Games benefits later on.
