The prominent Greek owner has updated its website fleet list to include the 10 tankers either delivered or under construction, all being built at Chinese yards.
Riviera reported in September on the company’s initial tanker delivery, marking the start of a renewed expansion push. The newly updated list now provides a full view of the entire fleet.
The investment programme includes two MR tankers, four Aframaxes, two Suezmaxes and two LR1s. The MR pair, built in 2024 and 2025, is part of a resale deal with Evalend Shipping, as Riviera first reported earlier this year, while the remaining eight vessels were originally ordered by Cape Shipping between 2023 and 2024.
Two Aframaxes were scheduled for delivery this year from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), part of CSSC. A second Aframax pair will join the fleet next year from CSSC’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co.
The Suezmax duo is set to reinforce the fleet in 2026, also from SWS, while the final two LR1 tankers, due for delivery in 2027, are reportedly under construction at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
Mixed fleet
Founded in 1987 in Athens, Cape Shipping historically specialised in the dry bulk sector before expanding into container vessels. The company currently oversees a fleet of seven bulk carriers built between 2006 and 2012, as well as seven container ships delivered between 2015 and 2021.
The owner has also recently been linked to an order for two 3,100-TEU container ships at China’s New Dayang Shipbuilding, with deliveries expected from Q2 2028 onwards.
Meanwhile, Cape Shipping has been actively divesting container vessels this year, with French liner major CMA CGM emerging as one of the main buyers.
