ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) — State Auditor Dave Boliek is set to hold a news conference to discuss his office’s performance audit of the City of Rocky Mount.
This comes after serious questions about the city’s spending were raised when it was revealed that Rocky Mount had a budget deficit and launched a forensic audit to determine the cause.
Back in early January, Eyewitness News asked Boliek about the status of his office’s investigation into Rocky Mount’s financial situation. At the time, he said the public would get an update soon.
The report follows years of the city spending millions of dollars more each month than it had available, which ultimately contributed to layoffs and increases in utility prices.
