Rolling Stones tribute band to kick off live music at Canton’s First Monday Trade Days

CANTON, Texas (KLTV) – A line-up of tribute bands is ready to bring Canton’s First Monday Trade Days to life this weekend and longer.

“We want to have fun. You know, and there’s nothing to do here, so, we want to give people something to do,” LaDonna Benson, the senior marketer and strategist for Nextshow Productions said.

Tribute bands are set to pay homage to Rolling Stones, ZZ Tex and Stevie Ray Vaughan Saturday. Jumping Jack Flash, out of Los Angelas, will play for Rolling Stones.

“We wanted to do the most iconic rock n roll band. And that’s the Rolling Stones, and they do a great tribute… They’ve been doing this for 20 years, and they’re so good that Mick Jagger keeps making us take them down,” Benson said.

Each month, tribute bands and performers are lined up to pay homage to different artists.

Benson said she hopes to encourage the community to come and enjoy.

“We wanted to bring in entertainment so people will stay longer and come back, because there’s going to be new and exciting music events every month.”

The Highwayman and Reba and Hank Williams Junior are slated May, with other big names lining up to follow.

“We’ve had a lot of requests for classic rock because there is a lot of country out here. So, we will have a lot of classic rock bands like Journey, Queen, Boston, Van Halen, Aerosmith. It’s going to be great,” Benson said.

She said vendors are equally excited for the change.

“I have talked to all the vendors out at First Monday and they are so excited,” Benson said. “I’ve got to meet all these wonderful, hardworking people, and it’s making me feel so good that I’m helping bring business back to these small businesses.”

The group also aims to help veterans, those facing homelessness and hunger, and aid in community service.

“Everywhere we sing, we want to do community service. Because if they see the singers out there doing this, maybe one person at a time will start helping people,” Benson said. “Music unites people, and we were hoping that when people unite because of music, it’s going to stop the hate.”

Tickets can be bought here for $30.
