TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A long-held dream has become reality at Ross Elementary as the school opened its Musical Garden, where art, music and imagination meet.
At Ross Elementary, music is everywhere, and thanks to the Parent-Teacher Organization, young scholars now have a space to play and explore outdoors.
“You know, the sense of joy that is you just don’t know if your dreams are high in the sky or if there’s a possibility that they come true. I think today is still a little surreal. It’ll probably hit me later tonight,” said Robin Bonsall, a PTO member.
The garden has playable sculptures, letting students explore music outdoors.
For the PTO, it’s about inspiring kids and showing community support.
“I think right now, we’re at a precipice of human compassion, where we know that our children are the future. So if there is anything we can do, just on a local level, to remind our children that they are loved and they are cherished,” Bonsall said.
Now, music spills outdoors, inviting young scholars to create together.
The garden’s opening was celebrated with music from Ross Elementary students, the Topeka High School Madrigals and the Highland Park Drumline.
