In case you needed a reminder, Halo will soon no longer be an Xbox-exclusive franchise, as a remake of the original is plotting a course to PS5 later this year.

Halo: Campaign Evolved brings the seminal first-person shooter (sans its beloved multiplayer) to Sony’s console as Microsoft’s gaming company continues its multi-platform push. But when is it set to arrive, exactly?

Well, a new theory says it may launch in June, possibly even shadow-dropping during Xbox’s recently announced summer showcase event.

This stems from a new promotional collaboration between Xbox and Fanta, which sees several series appearing on cans and bottles of the soft drink’s various flavours. There will also be some in-game rewards you can redeem from these special edition beverages.

This includes a skin for Master Chief in Halo: Campaign Evolved, namely the Fantastic Spartan Armor. In the Xbox Wire post, it says the item will be “redeemable beginning at launch”.

A Reddit post points out that similar cross-promotions between Xbox and other soda brands like Pepsi and Coca-Cola have lasted two to three months. If this Fanta arrangement follows the same pattern, it’ll likely continue through June, so the theory goes that the game will arrive around the same time.

Obviously this is just a fan theory, so it could be wide of the mark. However, when you add on top of that the Verge report from a while back, which claimed Halo: Campaign Evolved is “targeting release over the summer”, it does seem to all line up pretty nicely.

Whether it’s an “Available Now!” announcement during Xbox’s showcase or comes slightly later, it does appear to be poised for launch in June.
