The Sacramento Kings may be well on their way to a high lottery pick, which means it’s time to start kicking the tires on players who could factor into the team’s future plans.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Kings have signed guard Killian Hayes, the seventh pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, to a ten-day contract.
Killian Hayes, 24, has struggled to find his footing at the NBA level during four seasons with the Detroit Pistons (2020-24) and six games with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2025-26 season.
Over 216 career NBA games, Hayes holds averages of 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 38 percent shooting from the field, 28 percent from deep, and 77 percent from the foul line.
The Sacramento Kings plan to sign Killian Hayes to a 10-day deal, sources told @hoopshype. Hayes has averaged 23.1 points on 47% shooting from the field with 8.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game for the Cleveland Charge. More on new Sacramento Kings guard Killian Hayes
Killian Hayes’ shooting struggles have weighed on his NBA potential thus far, but the 6’4 guard has turned heads in the G League this season.
Over 28 games with the Cleveland Charge, Hayes has averaged 23.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game on 47/32/80 shooting splits.
Sacramento, losers of a franchise record 16-straight games entering play on Monday, is thin at the point guard spot as they have started to reduce veteran Russell Westbrook’s minutes over the past three games (19.6 minutes per game).
With former lottery pick Devin Carter falling in and out of head coach Doug Christie’s rotation, it will be interesting to see if Hayes gets a legit shot at rotation minutes, or if he’s another player to roll out during garbage time as the Kings keep their focus on obtaining a top pick in this summer’s NBA Draft.
